We recently created a website for the non-profit organization, Gideon’s Army. Gideon’s Army is a Jail/Prison ministry founded by the late, Larry Juedes who felt the call to go into the Dodge county jail and bring a message of hope to the inmates there. The message of Jesus Christ.
Larry was a man after God’s own heart. He reached out to the inmates with Bible studies and built personal relationships with them. He also helped them once they were released from prison to transition back into society by keeping connected with them on the outside with continued Bible study, prayer and counseling.
Larry’s vision was spread among many others who have come alongside him in his ministry, and 20 years later, are still keeping the vision a reality. Lives are dramatically changed by simple human compassion.
Sadly, Larry passed away in 2010 after battling Cancer, but his legacy lives on. He touched many lives in ways that cannot even begin to be comprehended.

This was a bank set up at this year's Biker Sunday at Christensen Field in Fremont, NE. The bank was there to collect donations which will go toward opening "Larry's House."
Just this past weekend I had the opportunity to meet a man while running our church garage sale. He came in especially because he knew that this was “Larry’s” church. He became emotional when he spoke about Larry. I asked him how he knew him, and he said, “Well…he was my brother in Christ!” That’s a very deep statement. I hope one day to be able to leave a legacy behind as impacting as that of Larry Juedes which started out so small but grew into something that can only be compared to the movie, “Pay it Forward.”
Gideon’s Army is in the process of opening “Larry’s House.” It will be a transitional home for ex inmates in need of a place to live and rebuild their lives outside of jail/prison. The name was chosen to honor their late founder. They are still in the fundraising stages right now, but the hope is to be able to house up to 4 people at a time and support them as they transition back into society. Hopefully by the time they leave, they will have found work and places of their own to live.
